Armspear Tall Globe Lantern - Northern Pacific Railroad
This is an Armspear Tall Globe lantern marked for the Northern Pacific Railroad.   This relatively rare lantern is an old Armspear that dates to around 1914 or 1915 era.   The original
design of this lantern dates to the late 1800s, but redesign of the pot dates this lantern's actual production date to around World War 1.    The globe is unfortunately cracked but
serviceable.   In later years, Armspear would partner with Adlake and make Adlake lanterns under license and mark them for the Armspear Company.   Armspear lanterns of this
period were generally heavier duty and higher quality than other designs.  0046 0012

to the 1880s.  The last patent date being 1905.   It has a drop in pot style frame.   It was likely made sometime prior to 1910.   It has has a very unique chain linked handle.  This was

Armspear Tall Globe Lantern - Philadelphia & Reading Railroad
This is an Armspear Tall Globe lantern that is very similar in design to the one above, however is probably a few years older, due to the fact that it utilizes a completely internal burner
that cannot be adjusted without removing the entire burner.   These types of lanterns were generally replace by externally adjustable burners by the early teens or earlier.   The lantern
is stamped P&R RR, which indicates Philadelphia & Reading Railroad.   However, the railroad changed it name after reorganization from railroad to railway in 1896.   However, patent
dates and the fact that Armspear Manufacturing Co. which was the name of Armspear after 1902 is stamped on the lid, clearly indicate the lantern is newer and they simply never
changed the dies to match the new name.  0071 0022
